Modern Kitchen Interior Design Tips
Do you like this story?
If you are remodeling your kitchen or just thinking about it, then this is a good place to start. Here you will find lots of tips, advice and help with planning, designing and buying your kitchen. Buying a kitchen is a major investment, to some it is the most important room in the house. Kitchen design trends are constantly changing, as are the choices of colors and materials.
However, there are still some basic concepts that never change, and hopefully you will find them here.
Designing and planning your own kitchen really isn't as difficult as you might think. We've included some simple rules here to assist you:
1. Take measurements in millimetres. Measure once, do it a second time, then a third. If any one of those measurements comes up different, start again! This may seem like overkill, but when you come to fit your kitchen and you find that the row of units you've ordered fits perfectly, you'll be glad of accurate measurements. Be sure to take careful note of window and ceiling heights, particularly sloping ceilings, and take into account existing gas/water/waste pipes, radiators and electrical sockets/supplies.
2. Think about positioning of sink and appliances. The ‘work triangle' of kitchen planning is the area defined by your sink, hob/oven and refrigerator. Keep this triangle of design compact and you'll limit travel time between these key appliances. Place a sink under a window, but never a cooker. Place your dishwasher next to your sink for ease of plumbing. Extractor fans are available as Recyclable or Extracting, if you choose Extracting make sure you position the fan against an external wall.
3. Look at magazines for tips, search the internet for kitchen design ideas and help, there’s a mass of information out there dedicated to showing you how to plan your own kitchen.
